Beauty Hair Care Wash Day

Prepping for a Braidout | Natural Hair Wash Day

braid out oyin

This week I decided to pre-poo by deep conditioning on dry hair. I just did an elasticity treatment last week, so this week I gave my hair some of the moisture it so craves. Then, I set my hair in a braidout using some of my favorite products. The steps to yesterday’s wash went like this:

  • Apply SheaMoisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil Mask to dry hair. I put on a plastic cap + my Hot Head Thermal Heat cap, and sat around for 30 minutes.
  • Then I hopped in the shower and did something a little different (just cause). I had my hair in six sections, so I wet the first section a little and detangled before moving on to the next section (left a little conditioner in for slip). Once done I rinsed all of the conditioner out and proceeded as usual.
  • I shampoo’d twice with the Coco Curl Hydrating Shampoo and followed that up with a quick condition using Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle while I washed my body. Then I rinsed and wrapped my hair in a microfiber towel before hopping out of the shower

I grabbed my Oyin Handmade products to style my seriously moisturized strands in a cornrow braid out. I filmed the process, so you’ll see how I achieved the braid out next week. I’ve never detangled my hair in that manner, and well, I am sold! I promise it only took 5-7 minutes to detangle my hair! Now, I have to duplicate the experience to ensure that it wasn’t just a fluke, but I’m excited at the prospect of cutting detangling time down even further.

How was your hairs wash day?
