Confessions of a Nail Biter #2 | Recovery

It’s been a little over a year since my last Confessions of A Nail Biter post, and well, things have gone downhill. I have been biting my nails down to nubs for the last 8 months due to stress and habit. However, recently I was watching one of my old hair video’s, and said to myself “my nails looked great!” Thus my new commitment to nail growth. About three weeks ago I began to grow my nails again cold turkey, no “no bit” nail polish, no daily manicures, and no telling people to watch for my nail biting.

The Evidence

My hands as well as my cuticles could use some attention after years of abuse. Vitamin E Oil is great for moisturizing and softening the cuticle, which helps to defeat brittle nails. The pic above shows my nail growth so far, and although I am still struggling to remember, I have not bitten my nails once since I committed to stop. I know they look stumpy, but that photo represents immense progress. I still have the urge to bite, but I just continue to massage my cuticles, apply hand lotion, and stare at nail polish. Yes, nail polish. Starting today, I am going to start pushing my cuticles back each night as well.

If I still have nails in 3 more week, I will get a manicure and start polishing my finger nails again. Wish me luck!
