Top Wash N Go Leave-In Conditioners | Type 4 Hair

leave-in conditioner

One integral aspect of my hair care routine is the application of a good leave-in conditioner. Over the years my hair has fallen in love with a few, but not all of them work well for wash n go’s. Sometimes they react with other products, they do not provide the necessary hold, or they do not have enough moisture to combat the dryness of gel. Thus, my top leave-in conditioners for wash n go styling are:

  1. Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner: This leave-in provides moisture, a light hold, and has great detangling properties. When using this leave-in I only need a light gel to ensure defined hair for days. I am looking for an alternative due to Parabens in the ingredients, but until then I will stick with what works!
  2. Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave-In Detangling hair Treatment: This surprised me! Although this leave-in has no hold, it has just the right balance of moisture without containing too much glycerin to have such a moisturizing effect on my coils that it provides instant definition with less frizz. When paired with a cream and a little gel, my hair has definition, hold, moisture and is happy for days.
  3. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave-In Conditioner: I had been using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie paired with a good leave-in to achieve wash n go’s. However, the CES has a tendency to react badly with many gel’s, causing flakes. This leave-in can be paired with gel due to it’s consistency and will leave the hair flake free.

You can call this the short list because although there are many great leave-in conditioners out there. They do not stack up to the one’s mentioned above when Wash n Go styling. The goal is soft, defined, touchable hair, and these three leave-in’s will have your hair well on it’s way to it’s happy place.
