Last year I discovered One Little Word. It is a year-long journaling project in which you select one word to focus on for the year. In 2017, my word was Focus.

My One Little Word for 2018 is Do.

One Little Word 2018

I chose Do because there are so many things I want to accomplish this year. As a result, I could easily become paralyzed or overwhelmed. Also, the idea is to remind me to “jump.” To not stand in a place of fear, but instead to take a chance and do the things I want to accomplish. The past tense of do is done or to finish, so at the end of the year, I want to finish.

In choosing this word, I invite progress and success into my life. It is so easy to set up goals at the beginning of the year, to then lag in the middle of the year, and scramble to finish the year strong. Instead, I want to focus on achieving my goals by creating a plan, executing, and evaluating the process throughout the year.

The OLW course allows me to reflect through guided monthly prompts. Plus, the course makes me delve into creativity by coupling scrapbooking with journaling. I do not consider myself visually creative, but the OLW project makes me stretch myself. Consequently, the project is really focused on becoming my true self and helps me grow by pushing me out of my comfort zone.

This year, I simply want to accomplish more by doing. Inadvertently, companion words for this year include creating and finish.

Getting Started

Today I begin the first prompt. I purchased the Main Kit as well as a few other items to help me work through the year. My album from 2017 is only half full, so I will use the same album for 2018. In order to keep the word in my thoughts, I plan to make it more visible (more on that later). Check out the video below to see more about the One Little Word Project.

What word have you chosen for 2018? What are some of your past words? The idea of choosing a word for the year was a new concept for me in 2017, but now I couldn’t imagine another way. If you want to know more about the One Little Word course, check it out here. After the initial course fee, you do not have to purchase anything else. It’s actually quite a low price for the value.

I’ve decided to use the word BE for the year 2018.

Nice! What do you intend to invite into your life through Be?

Just BE(ing) about it. Being capable, open-minded, fruitful, confident, content, etc. I’m always telling my friends and family “Be about it” when they tell me their wants in life. There’s only so much talking you can do. Putting your best foot forward, being proactive, and making things happen is being about it. So I want to really incorporate that word into my life this year and just really BE.
