When I plan to wear my hair in a long term protective style, my wash day before is all about preparing my hair for maximum moisture retention. Accordingly, every step I take is aimed at sandwiching moisture into each and every strand.

Protective Style Prep
One of the best ways to ensure my strands take in every bit of moisture is a hot oil treatment. Thus, I began my wash day by applying a mix of 2 tsp EVOO, 2 tsp Coconut Oil, 4 tsp Grapeseed Oil, 2 tsp Vitamin E Oil, and 1 1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil to my strands. Then, I put my hair in two braids and ran errands for four hours. After sitting around at home for another couple of hours, I hopped in the shower to wash my hair.
I always like to clarify (Cantu for Kids Tear Free Nourishing Shampoo) my strands before protective styling to ensure I get all the oil off and to make sure I don’t go into the style with build up. Then, I used a guaranteed moisture infusing deep conditioner, Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Penetrating Hair Treatment. After sitting under my hooded dryer for 15 minutes, I rinsed and proceeded to set my hair up for air drying.
I applied more grapeseed oil to each section followed by the Camille Rose Naturals Fresh Curl Smoother as a leave-in. After letting my hair dry in twists for about four hours. I applied the Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter and re-did each twist. In the morning I re-did each twist once more for maximum stretch and to ensure my hair would dry.

I then went to my hair appointment with the Agadir Volumizing Styling Gel in hand. Check out the video below for clips of the entire process.
I will maintain these braids for four weeks without washing. I do plan to post a video about my braid routine, so stay tuned.
