Over the last couple of years I have learned how important it is to use protein as part of my hair care routine. I find that frequently using dedicated protein treatments isn’t necessary. Instead, I try to regularly use deep conditioners with protein for my low hair.
I choose to rotate between the use of moisturizing deep conditioners and conditioners with protein. Since I began adding protein to my routine frequently, my hair is thriving. I know that a good balance of protein is necessary to retain length, but it took awhile for me to find that balance.

It took me awhile to figure this out, so I want to save other low porosity natural the trouble by sharing my favorites. As usual, I shared products ranging from low to high because you do not have to break the bank for great hair. Check out the video below for more details:
Deep Conditioners With Protein
The Ouidad Curl Recover Extreme Melt Down Repair Mask turned the healthy of my hair completely around. I saw better curl definition and better moisture retention after just two uses. In order to maintain, I use this treatment once a month faithfully.
Otherwise, I keep one other deep conditioner with protein in my arsenal to use for the rest of the month. My six current favorites are:
*Aphogee 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor: This is an old favorite that doesn’t have a lot of slip, but quickly works to strengthen the hair.
*ORS Hair Mayonnaise: This is an old favorite with surprising good ingredients for the cheap price.
*Curls Blueberry Bliss Reparative Hair Masque: A new favorite that melts the strands, smells great, and lasts awhile.
*Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner: This is unique because the strengthening ingredient is Blue Green Algae. Blue Green Algae has great properties that make this conditioner uniquely suited to those with protein sensitive strands.
*Mielle Organics Babassu Oil Deep Conditioner: This deep conditioner contains silk amino acids to strengthen the hair, and for me is more moisturizing than strengthening. However, for those who are protein sensitive, this one is great.
*Ouidad Curl Recovery Extreme Melt Down Repair Mask: I freakin love this product! The secret to purchasing this for near half the price is to use an Ulta 20% off coupon, as well as dollars off from points you have accumulated from other purchases.
I’ll keep saying it for the people in the back. Everyone should use protein on their natural hair.
