This past Spring I created a capsule makeup collection in order to use the products in my stash. The idea worked so well that I decided to continue to a create seasonal capsule for the foreseeable future, hence my summer capsule. From Spring to Summer, I did not reinvent the wheel, but instead simply switched out a few products due to hot humid weather.
Every summer, I switch to using matte primers along with and a tinted moisturizer for my base. This summer the Makeup Forever Step 1 primer for my face and the Smashbox 24 hour eyeshadow primer fit the bill. Summer means less is more, and I need the extra UV protection. Applying a full coverage foundation is pointless in Florida heat, so I dug out my NARS Tinted Moisturizers. To finish my base I add a little concealer for under eye circles.
I usually do not have any major summer breakouts, so the brightening NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in Amande is enough. Then I pull out the Anastasia Dip Brow pomade in Chocolate to ensure my eyebrows do not budge throughout the day. Which I pair with a darker Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil pencil in Ebony for color matching purposes. To add a slight bit of color I recently began using the NARS Liquid Blush (which I love) in Torrid.
This beautiful shade adds the most natural flush to my cheeks. Depending on how much product I apply, it looks completely natural or adds just the right pop of color to balance out the base. I finish the face with a little Laura Mercier Translucent setting powder in deep, Guerlain Terracotta bronzer in Ebony and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel before focusing on the eyes. Again, simplicity is key in these melt your face off months, so no eyeshadow. Instead, I use the Kat Von D Tattoo liner because it does not budge! My preference is a small cat eye or thick lash line because my eyes do stand out as a prominent feature of my face. I’ve given up on finding new mascara, so I use my tried and true MAC Gigablack lash mascara on my bottom lashes and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara on my top lids.
I’m a girl that likes glam, so I embrace a more dramatic eye look for everyday life paired with lips. I slap on MAC Chestnut lip liner and either a lip balm or a little color with lip gloss. Right now I am using the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Ashton as a natural nude or NARS ligloss in Dolce Vita for a hint of color.
