Beauty Hair Care Wash Day

Wash Day

dutch braid natural hair

I really didn’t have much time to wash my hair this past weekend, so I made life work by pre-pooing on the go. I applied conditioner, followed by oil and then styled my hair in two dutch braids. The style made it so that I would look presentable enough to do all that I needed to out and about, and at the same time, I was able to stick to what makes natural hair life easy, pre shampoo treatments. Once I returned home, I took the braids down to hop in the shower and wash my hair.

Wash Day | The Rundown

I cleansed my hair twice with the Coco Curl Hydrating Shampoo (new name is Moisture Love), and slapped in some of my favorite Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle conditioner to detangle. About 10 minutes later, my hair was tangle free, so I rinsed and wrapped my hair in a microfiber towel for 10 minutes while I handled the usual post shower business.

Then I applied Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer + As I Am leave-in conditioner, sealed in that moisture with Qhemet Biologics Aethiopeika Hyrdate & Twist Butter and put my hair in four braids to dry (check out my last wash day video to see what the braids look like). Once dry, I decided to wear my hair in a bun for a day or two before styling in another bantu knot out (check out the Instagram feed at the bottom of the page or Facebook to take a look at last week’s gorgeous bantu knot out).

How is your hair styled this week?

Love the Dutch braids!! I have been consistently pre-pooping since October 2015 in preparation for the colder months and I really plan making it a regular routine. It has greatly reduced my SSKs and split ends. When I am pressed for time I pre poo with my oil blend overnight. This week I have not been feeling like a lot of hair maintenance, so chunky twists for a twist out puff has been my style of choice. Wish I could do that Dutch braid, I would rock that, it looks so chic.

Thank you! If you can braid, you can do a Dutch braid, its just the reverse. Check out “Girls Love Your Curls” on Youtube, she has the BEST braiding tutorials.

Ok, thank you, thank you, thank you. Last night I watched the braiding videos you referred by ”
“Girls love your curls” and in 10 minutes I learned how to braid. I am 41 and could never learn how to braid. Her using the yarn just clicked. I was up at midnight last night braiding my hair!!!! I also learned how to cornrow and French braid. I am recommending her channel to everyone. This is big for me. Now I can do braid outs!!! Again, thank you for your time and sacrifice, I know you are busy with life, school, fitness, I do not take for granted your sacrifice to your blog and YT. Thank you for your time in educating others.
