It is officially Autumn in Florida, which means that my Autumn makeup does not melt off my face throughout the day. Where I live, the temperature is pleasant until 10am, and then the temperature continues to rise to its happy place of 90 degrees or more?.

It was so hot for those last two weeks of summer, I gave up and just stuck with brows, mascara, and a glossy lip. The dewy look has served me well in the sweltering days of summer, but I am more than ready for change. A couple of weeks ago inspiration struck, and I knew that Autumn was going to give way to soft matte makeup paired with a red lip.

My Autumn Face

Not bright orange-red, but a matte blue-toned red. Red will appear bold no matter how you swing it, but this led to a hunt for the perfect liquid lipstick. My search led me to Sephora and Ulta where I swatched every red liquid lipstick on the back of my hand and walked around the store waiting for them to dry down to their true color and texture.

I love a good red lip, so I have choices in my makeup collection, but none fit the bill. A long-lasting, blue tone, even, matte red liquid lipstick may have been an extra specific request. But, I found just what I was looking for via Dose of Colors Kiss of Fire. The perfect blue-toned red that doesn’t transfer and lasts. The color is long-wearing that I have to work hard to remove it!

To compliment my new lip choices, I decided to pick up a new Mented Cosmetics blush. I wanted to try their blush formula and Clay Too Much is a color I do not have in my stash. I also decided to add Season 2 Compact Duo to my cart to try a new bronzer as well. So far I am loving the blush for that splash of color that gives the look of an inner glow. The bronzer is the perfect shade to add a little warmth and depth to my face.

Finally, I turned to base. I do not own any matte primers, so I checked another item off of my to-try list, and purchased the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’R Instant Retouch primer. It compliments my Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless foundation well but I crave a better formula. I tried on a few new foundation options at Sephora and walked away with samples, so stay tuned…
